About Luis

I moved to the United States from South America at the age of 14 in the early 1980s. At that time, English instruction for new immigrants was available, but it wasn’t very good or very effective. I soon realized that if I was going to learn English quickly and well, I was going to have to do it on my own. By the time I started high school a few months later, I had a pretty good handle on the language; but more importantly, I fell in love with English. Since then, I have been on a life-long quest to learn and to speak English as fluently and articulately as possible.

I spent most of my professional life in telecommunications, banking, and higher education. In 2007, I joined a local Toastmasters International club to improve my public speaking skills. Learning to be a good public speaker was a perfect way to put my English skills to work. After leaving corporate America in 2015, I started my own business as a photographer and speaker. It wasn’t until 2020, while the world shut down, that I decided to pursue a 240-hour Master Certification in English instruction from the Bridge Education Group.

There are many other things I have done over the years to enhance my knowledge and use of this crazy language called English, which I will share on my YouTube channel. I invite you to join me in your own language journey to learn, speak, and improve your English skills.
